Dry Gauze
Dry traditional dressings that provide supervised coverage of the wound.
Cannot be used on infected wounds, does not promote wound healing, limited exudate management, adheres to the wound, re-injures and causes hemorrhage to neoepithelial tissues, and is painful for the patient after dressing changes.
Oil gauze
Contains petroleum jelly or triglyceride, which acts as a non-adherent to the wound.
Does not promote the entire wound healing process; ineffective in infected wounds; can drain exudate to 2 layers of dressing, limited exudate management.
