What types of dressings are commonly used

Dressings are materials used to cover wounds, which can wrap or cover wounds to help them heal and relieve pain. Commonly used dressings, according to the material is divided into gauze dressings, hydrocolloid dressings, transparent film dressings, alginate dressings, foam dressings, hydrogel dressings and so on.

1, gauze dressing: before the physician has not yet decided to use which appropriate dressing, with saline-impregnated gauze to keep the wound clean and moist;

2、Hydrocolloid dressing: prevent water, oxygen, water vapor transmission, but also has the function of absorbing exudate;

3、Transparent film dressing: impermeable to water, but permeable to oxygen and water vapor, and the wound can be clearly observed, due to poor water absorption, used for wounds with very little secretion;

4, alginate dressing: can absorb a large amount of exudate, commonly used in infected wounds, after absorbing a large amount of exudate will be converted into gel, thus keeping the bottom of the wound moist and promoting wound healing, when the exudate is reduced, and then change to other dressings;

5、Foam dressing: with absorption function, used for wounds with more secretion, often used together with other dressings;

6、Hydrogel dressing: with absorption function, and cooling properties, can reduce pain.
