Non-adhesive Alginate dressing is a highly absorbent functional dressing made from alginate fibers, which are derived from brown seaweeds. When applied on wound, the dressing can rapidly absorb exudate and form a soft, moist hydrogel on the wound surface, which can accelerate healing of wounds by providing a moist micro-environment. The non-adhesive dressing is easy to remove from the wound, without causing secondary injury.
Self-adhesive Alginate dressing is composed of tape, alginate pad and release paper. The core is the same nonwoven material used in alginate pad described above. When applied on wound, the tape helps secure the dressing on the wound edge, while the dressing core provides wound healing functions described above.

[Mechanism]
When Alginate dressing is in contact with wound exudate, calcium ions in the alginate fibers will exchange with sodium ions in the wound exudate, converting the fibers into water soluble sodium alginate, which can hold many exudates. As a result of the ion-exchange process, a layer of hydrophilic hydrogel with oxygen permeability will form on the surface of the wound, which is also capable of preventing bacteria from entering the wound. The moist environment created by Alginate dressing can also stimulate tissue growth and promote wound healing.

[Intended use]
For the treatment of moderate-to-severe exuding pressure ulcers (pressure injuries) or venous leg ulcers, or to aid in the control of minor bleeding.

[Intended users]
This product is intended for use by healthcare professionals (such as doctors, nurses, and trained medical personnel) in hospitals, clinics, or homecare settings, as well as by patients or caregivers under the guidance of medical professionals.

Users should be trained in basic wound management and dressing application.

[Adverse Reactions and Management]

The following adverse reactions may occur during use of this product:  

• Local allergic reactions, such as contact dermatitis, manifesting as pruritus, erythema, papules, or vesicles at the dressing application site.  

• Wound or surrounding tissue infection.  

• Maceration of the skin around the wound.

• Mechanical injury to newly formed epithelial tissue upon dressing removal (if not adequately moistened prior to removal).  

• Rarely, dressing fibers may remain in the wound bed.  

Management: If any of the above reactions occur, discontinue use of this product and implement appropriate clinical interventions (e.g., antiallergic therapy, anti

infective therapy, debridement, etc.). Residual fibers can be removed by irrigation with normal saline.
