Skin Wound Dressing Precautions

Skin wound dressing is an important step in the treatment of traumatic injuries, and attention should be paid to maintaining the functional position of the finger, moderate dressing, prohibiting ring dressing or parallel finger dressing, and exposing the end of the affected finger.

1、Maintaining the functional position of the finger: when bandaging, the finger should be placed in the functional position, i.e., the finger is naturally straightened, avoiding overextension or bending, in order to avoid aggravating the injury or affecting the recovery of the finger function;

Moderate dressing: When wrapping the dressing, care should be taken not to make it too tight or too loose. Too tight dressing will compress the wound, affecting blood circulation and wound healing; too loose dressing will not be able to play the role of fixing and protecting the wound. The tightness of the dressing should be adjusted according to the location and shape of the wound to ensure that the wound is properly fixed;

3. Prohibit ring bandage or parallel finger bandage: ring bandage will limit the blood circulation of the finger and affect the recovery of finger function; parallel finger bandage will easily cause the dressing to shift or compress the wound, which is not conducive to wound healing. Therefore, the use of ring bandage or parallel finger bandage should be avoided;

4. Exposure of the end of the affected finger: the end of the affected finger should be exposed during bandaging so as to observe the blood circulation and measure the finger temperature. By observing the color of the finger tip, the degree of swelling and sensory changes and other indicators, it is possible to determine whether the wound is ischemic, infected and other complications, and take timely and appropriate treatment measures.

Skin wound dressing requires attention to protect the wound, promote healing, and avoid complications. At the same time, it should also be based on the specific circumstances of the wound and the patient's physical condition, choose the appropriate bandaging methods and materials.
